This is a bird.

I’m heartbroken over the oil spill disaster in the gulf. I’m not a resident of a gulf state, and the only state in immediate danger that I’ve been to is Flordia. However, I feel that this is an American disaster and is goign to affect all of us for many years. I’m devastated looking at the pictures of the wildlife, but even beyond that. This is someones back yard. This is the place that families vacation together.

I’m going to be doing all that I can in the coming days, including using the leverage that my websites provide to me to donate to this cause. However, if you’re interested in donating now, I suggest the National Wildlife Fund or Oceana.

This image above alerted me to an issue that a lot of pet games are facing, which is copyright. Lurapets added these to their site, which is an exact likeness to the very recently released movie.  I think that pet game owners in particular need to find someone on their team who knows about copyright law, and figure out what to do about things like this.

This is a republican attack ad, airing in Virginia this weekend. I respect the Virginia Republican Party’s right to air this ad, and to claim that global warming doesn’t exist. However, if you are going to attack two democrats who support climate change legislation, at least get your facts correct about global warming.

Global warming causes extreme weather. Global warming is blamed for extreme winter weather, as well as extreme summer weather. Warm air (like the 2-3 degree temperature change that we’ve seen since 1970) holds more moisture, which has the potential to create more snow during the winter.

• Global warming is shifting storm tracks northward. Areas from the Dakotas eastward to northern Michigan have seen a trend toward more heavy snowfall season.
• Many areas are seeing bigger and more intense snowstorms, especially in the upper Midwest and Northeast.

We’ve been averaging well the past few days .

Squiby continues to climb at an incredible rate. Now the only problem is how to monetize it well. I’ll have a new layout for it up in the next week, and then I’ll be working majorly on finding a way to properly monetize the site.

I find myself not liking the advertising on the left side, and it’s not bringing in as much money as I’d hoped. I will probably change that or remove it all together, and keep the left advertising (projectwonderful) just because I like the smaller advertisers that come with it. Things like comics and small game sites that I think sit really well with the users of Squiby.

I think the next major step will be in making an ‘upgraded’ account to the site, so that users can choose to purchase an extra $5 a month package that increases the functionality of the site. Possibly giving them access to features that other people aren’t able to use.

Also, I want to reach out to content creators (like virtual pet site owners) and try to get them to make sets of adoptables on Squiby. I can imagine that a set of Subeta adoptables (or Misticpets, or any other site) would do really well on the site itself, and serve as a really easy (and free!) advertising platform for the site in question.

Right now the comments that were posted on the default system are being imported, but I can’t really say how long that’ll take since there were over 50,000 spam comments.
